Is the Bank Really Calling or Contacting Me?

Imposters and Scammers may impersonate your banker, a relative, or a government employee. In 2023, bank-related fraud saw significant losses, with various scams and fraudulent activities impacting both individuals and financial institutions.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported that consumers lost over $10 billion to fraud in 2023, marking the first time that fraud losses have reached that benchmark and a significant increase from the previous year. Protect yourself against fraud and remember that Gulf Coast Business Bank will not contact you via phone, text, email, or social media asking for personal or account information. If this happens, hang up or log out immediately!  

Be proactive, watch for warning signs. Do not fall victim to the scammers. Pay attention and stay informed. Below are some Red Flags to be aware of:

  • If you receive an unsolicited phone call from someone claiming to be from Gulf Coast Business Bank asking for personal information, please hang up! You can then contact your personal banker or account officer at Gulf Coast Business Bank directly, 239-345-2265. Please confirm we in fact contacted you. 
  • Gulf Coast Business Bank will NEVER ask for your personal information, PIN number, pass code, or social security number via a text message, an email, or through social media. If you receive a message asking for this type of information, do not respond, logout!
  • If you are instructed to, or asked to move money to resolve a fraud, hang up/ log out!
  • If you are instructed to disregard warning messages when completing a transaction, log out!
  • If you are instructed to download software or provide remote access to your computer, log out!

You are a valuable client of Gulf Coast Business Bank, please do not click on any suspicious links, or download unfamiliar software to your computer or mobile device. If you mistakenly provide any personal information, or has been impacted by fraud, please report the fraud to us immediately at 239-345-2265. You should also log into your account by going directly to our website or mobile app. Confirm that the account is in good standing.
